LAW ENFORCEMENT SCOUTING MISSIONS

 

The four primary operational applications of scout tracking include patrol & and investigative (P & I), reconnaissance & and surveillance (R & S); thus, general covert operations in rural remote areas, including high-risk tactical operations with a support element.  These four general applications of Recce Scoutcraft can be adapted and applied to accomplish countless operational objectives within the broader context of law enforcement:

 

  • Border or boundary control

  • Anti-government and environmental terrorism groups

  • Counter-poaching and wildlife crime violations

  • Wildlife and Natural resource enforcement

  • Trailing and apprehension of fleeing suspects, fugitives, or escapees

  • Patrolling and Surveillance in support of fugitive operations.

  • Counter narcotics operations (Meth Labs, Marijuana grows, etc.):

    • Surveillance of grow, lab, and transport operations

    • Collection of evidence in grow, lab, and transport areas

    • Use of tracking to find and link various related grow, lab, and transport sites in a given area

    • Trailing and apprehension of suspects fleeing from grow, lab, and transport sites

    • Back-tracking suspects to their point(s) of origin

    • Counter-stalking operations/investigations

  • Lost person recovery

 

Investigative tracking techniques can be used, as outlined above, in virtually any criminal investigation.
